West Chicago Township is now open for appeals with the Cook County Board of Review through May 17, 2011. Neighborhoods in the 32nd Ward that are included in the West Chicago Township would be Bucktown, Wicker Park and Ukranian Village.
On Wednesday, May 4th, I have partnered with Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Michael M. Cabonargi to host a property tax seminar. At this seminar, homeowners can learn how to appeal their property assessment and potentially lower their property tax bills. The seminar will be held on Wednesday, May 4th at 6:00 PM at Holstein Park located at 2200 N. Oakley Avenue.
The presentation will explain how to file an appeal and how an appeal is granted. Attendees are asked to bring their property tax bills in order to more efficiently file an appeal. Staff from Commissioner Cabonargi's office will be available to answer questions and help complete appeal forms. The only requirement for a taxpayer to appeal a property assessment is a completed complaint form filed before the township appeal period closes on May 17th.
Commissioner Cabonargi and I strongly encourage any West Chicago Township property owner to attend this seminar and appeal your property taxes. However, if you cannot make it on May 4th, please call or come into my office for assistance. You can also drop off your forms to my office until the morning of May 16th and we will be happy to turn them into the Board of Review for you. To download forms, click here.
Don't miss this opportunity!
Yours very truly,
Alderman Scott Waguespack
