Project SYNCERE is Hiring High School and College Students ASAP!



Project SYNCERE is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization whose mission is to increase the number of minority, female, and under-served students who pursue careers in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. Since its incorporation in 2008, Project SYNCERE has served more than 1000 students across the Chicago area.



The State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources Youth Recreation Corps recently granted us funds to hire students who are citizens of the State of Illinois and who, at the time of hiring, between 16 - 19 years of age. The work will commence mid-July and go through the end of August, Monday - Friday, 9 am -3pm.



We have 8 slots available. Those hired will have an opportunity to assist with curriculum development, project kit preparation, in-class program instruction, and administrative support. Ultimately, these students will benefit from the mentoring our experienced staff will offer them for a lifetime. Candidates should either have an interest in engineering or education.



All positions are part-time and pay is dependent upon the grant allocation. The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (ILCC), a leading nonprofit multidisciplinary cultural organization that promotes the richness and great diversity found in more than 20 Ibero-American nations, is seeking a Development and Marketing Associate Director.



Development and Marketing Responsibilities


· Report and work with Executive Director on all fundraising and marketing activities


· Plan, implement and meet fundraising goals designed to maximize resources for Chicago Latino Film Festival and year-round programming


· Conduct research, write and develop successful grant and sponsorship proposals/contracts and oversee execution


· Successful implementation of social media strategies for marketing and fundraising purposes


· Develop and maintain key relationships with corporate leaders


· Work as a collaborative member with staff, board members and volunteers to produce and promote cultural events


· Negotiate and manage expenditures in line with marketing and fundraising goals



Skills and Qualifications


· Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field. Master's preferred


· Minimum of 3 years experience with demonstrated success in marketing and fundraising


· Substantial experience in leveraging social media tools and web within professional environment


· Strong strategic, analytic and communication skills, including ability to write clearly and succinctly under time pressure; capacity to work autonomously


· Excellent organizational and time management skills, including proven ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities under tight deadlines


· Results oriented and demonstrated effectiveness in developing networks and productive working relationships with diverse constituencies


· Ability to motivate people in support of specific causes


· Possess a keen sense of creativity


· Bilingual in English and Spanish with verbal and written proficiency

The Apps for Metro Chicago, IL competition is an unprecedented #open gov software challenge.



The Data The Awards



We invite software developers, community groups, businesses and individuals to build apps that solve problems and improve services in Metro Chicago. Our goal in this three-phased competition is to increase government transparency by facilitating the building of software applications that are creative, useful, and designed for long-term impact.



Apps for Metro Chicago, Illinois is the first apps competition to be a collaborative effort among four governmental agencies. The City of Chicago, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Cook County, and the State of Illinois are together providing an exceptional amount of open data, an unprecedented amount of technical assistance and unique efforts to help software developers team up with community organizations to build useful apps.



Any and all software applications are eligible as long as they are for a platform widely available to the public like the web, smart phones, and SMS.



Support for this competition comes from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition, the Motorola Mobility Foundation and The Chicago Community Trust.

Youth Organizer Position


The Alliance of Local Service Organizations (ALSO) is currently seeking to fill the position of Youth Organizer. This is a part-time position (20 hrs/week).



Position: Youth Organizer


The Youth Organizer will:


· Recruit at least 15 youth from a variety of local youth programs to join the Local Youth Leadership Council


· Support a local Youth Leadership Council in developing and implementing at least one concrete violence prevention project in their community.


· Implement and manage the project. Ensure goals and work plan are developed and managed. Report on results.


· Attend Statewide Youth Leadership Council.


o Must recruit at least two youth to join, attend, etc


o The Statewide Youth Leadership Council will meet quarterly


o Two in person meetings in the Chicago area


o Two via video conference


· Attend mandatory youth leadership training


· Assist in Logan Square Safety Committee meetings and statewide event
